Friday Favorites-June | Hawaii Wedding Photographer

Happy Aloha Friday everybody!  Since I do a lot of destination weddings,  I thought it would be fun to do a blog post of 5 of my favorite random spots around Oahu.   I love going out weekly and hanging out with friends to chill around the island.  These would be great places to bring wedding guests and visitors!

  1.  Favorite Acai Bowl- I am a huge fan of acai bowls and I’ve tried many places around the island.  Island Vintage in Haleiwa has a yummy acai bowl and breakfast!  Other places with great acai bowls are HiCravings and 808 Urban bowls.
  2.  Favorite Cafe- I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love chai tea.  My favorite chai on the island is definitely Surfer’s Coffee in Wahiawa.  They have a cute surfer vibe, a nice big area for lounging around, and my friend loves their Wahiawa mocha and their macadamia nut latte.  Their acai bowl is really good as well!
  3. Favorite beach- There are no shortages of beautiful beaches around the island.  Waimea Bay, Kailua beach and Ko’olina are very popular.  But my favorite beach is Papa’iloa beach on the north shore.  It’s a beautiful stretch of white sand and clear water, and it’s perfect for engagement shoots and small wedding ceremonies.
  4.  Favorite hike-  I love the Lanikai Pillbox hike because of it’s spectacular views of the Mokulua islands.  .  It’s a short hike up to the pillboxes but a great workout.  It’s a pretty busy hike but definitely a must do! Pic credit: Janell Hughes of Aloha Editing Boutique.
  5.   Favorite shave ice-  Hawaii is known for it’s shave ice, and Matsumoto’s shave ice in Haleiwa always busy with lines snaking around the door!  But it’s well worth the wait and so refreshing on a hot day!  My kids beg for their shave ice whenever we are in the area.
